Joseph Deiss, thepresident from Switzerland of the 65th session of the UN General Assembly, said
his meeting with Prime Minister S.Batbold on Saturday “is an expression of the
great importance the UN attaches to its ties with Mongolia”. The Premier
noted the important work done at the session on issues such as realization of
the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), global peace and security,
peacekeeping operations, international trade, economics and environment.
Mongolia is chairing the session”s committee of economics and finance. Deiss
appreciated Mongolia’s contribution to the proceedings of the summit and
thanked Batbold for his forceful expression of the special problems of
landlocked countries.
The Prime Minister also met with his Japanese counterpart, Naota Kan, at the UN
and shared views on bilateral and regional cooperation. They noted that
Mongolian and Japanese economic ties have expanded and cooperation in several
areas are being planned.
