After last weekend’s rotational election to party units in provinces and districts, the DP is now forming a new National Representative Bureau. On Thursday, March 11, 2010, Ch.Enkhtaivan, president of White Falcon Holding, was appointed to the DP’s Executive Council from Khentii province. The Executive Council is the most important party forum after the National Representative Bureau. It has 21 members. Three of the nine members of Khentii province are elected by rotation and this year’s winners include UB Deputy Mayor Da.Ganbold and A.Enkh-Amgalan, both of whom were elected unopposed, and  Khuderbaatar who defeated B.Batbileg, son of MP Batj.Batbayar.

Competition was fierce in Bayangol district of UB. D.Erdenebat and the leader of the Civil Movement, O.Magnai, were elected to the National Representative Bureau. Metropolitan DP Head S.Erdene was successful in forcing MP Kh.Temuujin out of the district. Erdenebat was brought in from Baganuur district to Bayangol to eliminate the possibility of Temuujin’s election. Unless Temuujin manages to get a place in the National Representative Bureau from the district, he will not be able to claim the party’s nomination at the Parliamentary election from the district constituency. Temuujin was supported by only 35 of the 105 members.

O.Magnai had previously failed to be elected from Songinokhairkhan district and his opponents allege that he paid MNT10 million to become the candidate in Bayangol district. Other districts and provinces will hold the elections later next week.
