Ivanhoe Mines is having “interesting” talks
with potential new strategic investors following a recent move to ease
restrictions on its shareholder registry, Executive Chairman Robert Friedland
has said. “That has opened us up to some very interesting discussions with
third parties,” Friedland said, without elaborating. Ivanhoe last month
said it planned to terminate a clause in
an agreement with its largest shareholder Rio Tinto that restricts Ivanhoe from
issuing shares to other strategic investors.
