From 9th-11th November, the Mongolian President made an official visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. This visit comes five years after the last such visit. On Monday 9th November, President Ts.Elbegdorj commenced his trip to China in the the city of Xi’an, the famous ancient capital of the Thirteen Chinese States.

After the one-day visit to Xi’an, the welcoming ceremony took place at 17.00 pm on Tuesday 10th November, in the Great Hall of the People. The Presidents of two countries signed 11 official documents after the ceremony.

During the visit of Xi Jinping to Mongolia, last year, the two countries have declared a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. President Xi Jinping noted: “The previous visit to Ulaanbaatar was a historical visit which raised the relationship of our two countries to a new level. Mongolia is a good neighbor and a good friend to China”.

President Ts.Elbegdorj said that: “It is possible to increase the balance of trade between our two countries to USD 10 billion by the year 2020. This goal was set during the visit of Xi Jinping in 2014”. Currenty, the balance of trade is estimated at USD 6.3 billion; in 2002 it was USD 300 million. China is Mongolia’s biggest trading partner; 80% of Mongolian export is related to China.

During the agreement, President Ts.Elbegdorj introduced the Mongolian Permanent Neutrality Status, which was declared during the 70th General Assembly of United Nations. Also, the sides agreed to compromise in the coordination of the Chinese initiative “One Region-One Road” and the Mongolian “Steppe Road”.
