Independent members of Parliament have provided information regarding the price of petrol. S.Ganbaatar, a Member of Parliament noted: “The Mongolian petrol price did not decreased even though world prices have fallen by 50%. Farmers harvesting their crops have been very hard hit. Therefore, we must agree to provide petrol loans, during harvest time. Last year, one barrel of petrol was USD 110; this year it has fallen to USD 50. Because of a special official tax reduction, petroleum importers pay a tax of one dollar for MNT 1450, but citizens pay taxes for MNT 1900. That is why the Government must set the petroleum price, because the petroleum importers are unwilling to reduce their prices at all”.
