This year is the 800th anniversary of the birth of Khubilai Khaan. To mark this event, the Mongolian Numismatic Federation, the Academy of Sciences, and the Mongolian Bank have issued a souvenir coin of Khubilai Khaan. This coin costs MNT 10,000, has a diameter of 38 millimeters, weighs 25 gram, and has a colored image of the Khaan. The Mongolian Bank minted its first souvenir coin in 1971. Before Khubilai coin, golden coins of Chinggis Khaan and Ugudei Khaan were issued. Also, the Mongolian Bank plans to issue more silver coins of 37 Great Khaans in the future.
