Last year an open tender was announced for the supply of two-part connected-buses. This came under “Order A/514” of the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor. In this tender, one Chinese and two Belarus companies participated; Belarusian “MAZ” (Minsk Automobile Plant) was chosen to supply the connected buses. The Ulaanbaatar Procurement Authority has bought 20 “MAZ-215067” connected buses produced during the first quarter of 2015. Under the contract, the connected buses were delivered to Mongolia on 26th June.
This model has 38 seats and a total 160 passenger capacity, is powered by a Mercedes-Benz engine and uses ecological euro-3 standard fuel. The length is 18.7 m and width 2.55 m. These buses are also suitable to Mongolian climates, being equipped with frost-free windows. They also have special equipment to transport disabled and wheelchair-bound people.
Due to the Peace Avenue repairs, the launch date of the connected buses has been postponed by a month to 15th August instead of 9th July.
