President Administration Chief, P.Tsagaan has held a meeting with a project team responsible for the reforestation of Mt. Bayan-Undur in the Orkhon Aimag. Those present included: Ts.Davaatseren who is the CEO of Erdenet Mining Corporation, D.Enkhbat, Deputy Chief of the Orkhon aimag and Ruediger Schwarz director of Germany’s “Geotec Rohstoffe” as well as investment consultant Matthias Schach.

Mt. Bayan-Undur Mountain is part of the “Buteeliin Nuruu” range and used to be rich in larch, birch and spruce. That was before 1976 when the Erdenet metallurgical plant was built. Because of this and people’s irresponsible attitude to nature the south face of Bayan-Undur became treeless in 1995.
