In May 2015, the Ministry of Finance provided information on the state budget. Total budget income stood at 82.6% and outgoings at 68.7%; which means the state budget accumulated MNT 2.1 trillion instead of the expected MNT 2.5 trillion. There are several tax shortfalls and other reasons that have caused this situation, for example: Value Added Tax (VAT) on imported products is MNT 154 billion, income from the privatization of property -MNT 123 billion, company tax-MNT 50 billion, standard VAT on non-imported products-MNT 83 billion, and customs import duties -MNT 30 billion. For these reasons, the budget balance now stands at MNT 347.7 billion as opposed to MNT 244 billion in April 2015.
