The Euro-Parliament is the supreme legislature of the EU, and, as such, is the one of the most influential parliaments of the world; members are elected directly by the citizens of the member countries.
Historically, from 1957 the Euro-Parliament used to select its members from the member countries directly; since 1979, however, it started to choose members by election every 5 years. The Euro-Parliament is located in Strasbourg France.
