The National Statistic Committee has successfully organized and published the joint findings of the Mongolian Government and the United Nations Children’s fund; “Social Indications – Combined -Research”.

According to the Law on Statistics, “Child Development Research” must be conducted every 4 years, and “Reproduction Research” every 5 years. Therefore, the National Statistic Committee has studied “Child Development” four times and “Reproduction Research” three times.

Census Bureau chief J.Munkhbadar said – the same indicators have been used in the past for both these studies. For example, the indicators have included; the number of infants, infant mortality, details of birth control etc. Furthermore, because research methodology has differed; the results have also differed. It was therefore difficult for clients to understand. National Statistic Committee has consolidated everything under one heading, thereby economising significantly. We have transformed the Law on Statistics in accordance with which “Social Indicators – Combined -Research” must be conducted once every five years.

The largest research project undertaken involved 15500 families, and used hi-tech tablets for analyzing data. Paper and conventional note-taking has been cut out of the process, thereby saving time and improving accuracy.
