The
Metropolitan Mayor’s Office has announced that 12,000 tons of meat will be
stocked this spring. This is much more than the 2,800 tons offered in 2010. A
few more than last year’s 11 companies will be assigned the job. They must have
slaughter houses with proper and hygienic facilities, sorting and packaging equipment,
as well as transportation vehicles and storage space. The stocked meat did not satisfy
the people this year, even though it cost much less than what was otherwise
sold.

Officials
have given the assurance that there will be no shortage and complaints about the
quality next year. Around 205 tons of meat is sold in Ulaanbaatar every day.
The stocked meat will be enough for two months. There will be monetary incentives
based on the amount of meat sold, not the amount of meat prepared.
