Twelve of the 16 top world players who
have been competing in a series of tournament held in different cities around
the world will be participating in the fifth leg of the World Chess Federation
(FIDE) Women Grand Prix to be held from July 29 to August 12 in Ulaanbaatar.

“I am happy that Mongolia has
got the chance to host a women’s Grand Prix for the first time. It will surely accelerate
the popularity of chess in Mongolia, which has been growing rapidly in recent
years,” said Mongolian Chess Federation President S. Enkhtsag.
B. Munguntuul will represent
Mongolia and compete with the world’s top players. They will include former
world champion Grandmaster Xu Yuhua of China and Maia Chiburdanidze of Georgia,
as well as world grandmasters Koneru Humpy of India, Zhu Chen of Qatar, Tatiana
Kosintseva of Russia, Hou Yifan, Zhao Xue and Shen Yang of China, Sebag Marie
of France, Yildiz Betul of Turkey, Fierro Baquero, Martha of Ecuador.
