Yesterday (May 27th 2015), the “Chinggis Land Development Group” , the “Mongolian Chamber of Trade & Industry” and the “Mongolian Highway Federation” signed a memorandum of understanding in order to enable national companies to participate in the national highway construction project. This will make it possible to increase the number of Mongolian workers and technical experts. The route of the new highway is Altanbulag-Ulaanbaatar-Zamiin Uud. Under the MoU, Mongolian legal entities will have the opportunity to cooperate with international corporations and also gain experience working on regional-wide projects further afield.

There will be provided approximately 20-30 thousand permanent jobs involved in road building phase; subsequently it is envisaged that there will be around 3000-5000 permanent jobs created, connected with service stations and other infrastructure facilities.

On 9th March 2014, “Chinggis Land Development Group – Shine Hugjliin Zam” LLC  made a concessionary contract with the minister of economical development  under government resolutions 99 and 399 to build the “Altanbulag-Ulaanbaatar-Zamiin Uud Highway”. This mega project is to be constructed under BOT conditions (ie “Build-Over use-Transfer”), which means that there will be no government intervention and that financing will be provided from the private sector. The “Chinggis Land Development Group” will construct the highway within 3 years, under BOT conditions. It will be transferred to the government after 30 years.

This highway will be a truly huge construction project; crossing 24 sums (districts) in 6 aimags (provinces) as well as 2 districts of Ulaanbaatar. The length – approximately 900km!
