On May 17, President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj met with Prime Minister of the Republic of India Shri Narendra Modi.

President Elbegdorj extended warm welcome to Prime Minister of India, His Excellency Mr. Shri Narendra Modi and accompanying delegation and noted: “Your visit is highlighted as the first ever visit of the Prime Minister India to Mongolia and this visit has a historical importance. Every word you say and every step you take here in Mongolia will be considered as the historical event and legacy in the mutual relations between our two countries.

We are truly glad to see that under your governance India has revived on the international stage and re-emerged as a global economic power. Mongolia regards India as its spiritual neighbor and our two countries connected with a long-historical tie. Secondly, Mongolia and India share common values such as democracy, human rights and rule of law. Thirdly, we have ample opportunities to enhance our bilateral relations and partnership. Once again, I would like to extend my warm welcome to Your Excellency, Prime Minister of India”.

Prime Minister of the Republic of India Shri Narendra Modi said: “Your Excellency, Mr. President, I would like to express my gratitude to you for the warm welcome and hospitality that has been extended to me and to my delegation. Indeed, our two countries have spiritual connection and we share common values.
I am happy that my visit is coinciding with the 25th Anniversary of the Democratic Revolution in Mongolia and the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and India. In 2009, President Elbegdorj paid his first overseas trip to India upon becoming the President of Mongolia. Also, it is a matter of pride for me to visit Mongolia. This is my first visit to Mongolia and I am proud to be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit your country”.

Then, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed a special session of the Parliament of Mongolia.
Prime Minister of India is paying a state visit to Mongolia on May 16-18, 2015 upon the invitation of Prime Minister of Mongolia Ch.Saikhanbileg.
