By the end of April, owners of the two biggest copper mines in Mongolia, Oyu Tolgoi LLC and Erdenet Mining Corporation, are going to sign a memorandum of cooperation to work together in three areas.

Firstly, equipment produced at the maintenance and mechanical factory of Erdenet Mining Corporation will be supplied to Oyu Tolgoi. Secondly, skilled workers required by Oyu Tologi will be trained at the Science and Technology Institute associated with Erdenet Mining Corporation.

The two will also share resources to improve Erdenet Mining Corporation's clinic to treat workers for illnesses occurring on the job. It will soon be possible for their employees to receive the same high quality medical care that Oyu Tolgoi employees have access to with proper insurance.

Director of Erdenet Mining Corporation Ts.Davaatseren stressed, “Oyu Tolgoi is a modern factory. They are using new, modern technology. They have very good labor safety and security operation experience. In this regard, we have a lot of things to learn from them. In trade issues we can be competitors. However, instead of competing, we have possibilities for cooperation."
