The Minister of Roads and Transportation, N. Tumurkhuu, has been entrusted with the responsibility to open the highway between Ulaanbaatar and the new airport being built in Khushigt Valley by 2016.

The highway to Tuv Province is being built with loan financing from the People’s Republic of China. The deadline for completing the highway is being coordinated with the first stage of airport construction to be complete, and also with the scheduled IX Asia-Europe Meeting Summit Conference being held in Ulaanbaatar in 2016.

It was decided that the financing issues for the construction of the six lane highway be resolved through a soft loan from the Government of China. Conditions for completing the highway within a fixed term will be created.
