Chairman of the Capital City Property Relations Department Sh.Tumurbaatar  has submitted  a proposal  to privatize the Wedding Palace, claiming that the Wedding Palace has been unprofitable. The issue is going to be discussed at the meeting of the UB Citizen’s Representative Council.

This Wedding Palace was working at a profit since it first opened in 1976, and in 2013 the total profit of the Wedding Palace was 248 million MNT. However in 2014, the palace incurred losses of 46 million MNT.

Representatives of the UB Citizen’s Representative’s Council have said that there might be plans to destroy the old building and build new one. As they noted, "We are wondering why it is going to be privatized if it has worked only one year without any profit.” State officials have not provided an answer to their inquiry.   

The privatization of the Wedding Palace will be decided on March 13, during the General Session of the UB Citizen’s Representative’s Council.
