A draft Law to establish an agreement to exchange prisoners with Kazakhstan has been discussed and approved by the Parliament, and the Prime Minister’s order to provide authorization to sign the agreement has been ratified.  

Almost 1,000 citizens of Mongolia are permanently residing in Kazakhstan, and about 6,000 Mongolian citizens visit Kazakhstan on an annual basis.

Presently, there are three Mongolian citizens who are in prison in Kazakhstan.

By establishing an agreement to exchange prisoners a legal environment to exchange prisoners can be founded, and following certain procedures and rules, it will be possible to exchange prisoners.
