The father of a southeast Missouri man who died while hiking
in Mongolia said another American faces charges for waiting too long to report
the man missing.

Colin McLain, of Cape Girardeau, was working in Mongolia as a temporary legal
adviser to the country”s leaders when he was found dead in a national park in
early July.

McLain”s father, Randy McLain, said his 25-year-old son was hiking with another
American, and that Colin told the other man to go on when Colin got tired. The
other American didn”t report Colin missing until 36 hours later.

Randy McLain told The Southeast Missourian that he was informed Thursday the
Mongolian government charged the other man for failing to report Colin missing
in a reasonable time. He also said preliminary autopsy results show he died of
hypothermia.
