The Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science has reviewed issue of the cost of meals in kindergarten being shared by parents, and the position gained support from the majority of committee members during its regular meeting on Thursday.

Suggestions to increase variable costs for children in kindergarten, and to lower  payment by the government for the cost of meals in kindergarten to 50 percent, requiring parents to pay the remained were raised. The cost of meals for disabled and children from low-income families would still be paid 100 percent by the government.

There have been frequent complaints from parents about the poor ingredients and nutritional value of meals prepared in preschools.

The suggestions to increase the variable cost of meals in kindergarten and let parents pay for half of the cost have been approved in their first stage of discussion.
