The International Judo Federation (IJF) has rewarded the world's top judokas who earned the most ranking points this year, presenting prize money and adding them to the IJF World Prestige Ranking List for their outstanding achievements in 2014.
The IJF Prestige World Ranking List was introduced by IJF President Marius Vizer at the Havana Grand Prix in June. The definitive list, one for men and one for women, includes all weight categories. Four judokas from France, two from Georgia, two from the Netherlands, two from Mongolia, and one judoka each from Greece, Russia, Cuba, and the Czech Republic were named for the IJF World Prestige Ranking List.
World champions Majlinda Kelmendi (KOS) and Avtandil Tchrikishvili (GEO) were the inaugural male and female end-of-year winners and rewarded with 50,000 USD in prize money.
