During Monday’s press conference, the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation made an official statement confirming the results of doping tests administered during Naadam.

The news stated two wrestlers out of the top16 finalists failed the doping test. This caused the public to become angry. It took a month for the President of Mongolian National Wrestling Federation, R.Nyamdorj, and Secretary General of the Federation, Tsogtbaatar, to announce the names of the wrestlers who failed the tests.

It’s been announced, N.Adiyabat who was recently granted the title State Falcon, and B.Sumanchuluun who also granted the title State Falcon on the 2223rd anniversary of the founding of the Mongolian state, the 808th anniversary of the Great Mongol Empire and the 93rd anniversary of the Mongolian People`s Revolution failed the tests.

According to law, tests are required from the 16 Naadam finalists. Once admistered the samples were sent to the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Doping Control Center. The results revealed drugs, which belong on the ban lists, were present in the samples taken by the athletes.

Mongolian National Anti Doping Organization officially reported the results to the Mongolian National Wrestling Federation on August 22nd 2014.  Following the initial report a second sample from both wrestlers was sent to the Korea. The second sample concluded the same results. The Mongolian National Anti Doping Organization announced this on September 9th to Mongolian National Wrestling Federation and the Organizing Committee of Naadam.

In response to the drug test failures, the newly granted title wrestlers claimed they were taking pills for injures sustained during training.

The consequences of these two wrestlers actions will be decided during an Organizing Committee of Naadam meeting.

According to law and the rules of national wrestling, wrestlers who are caught doping will be required to forfeit their rights to wrestle for up to two years and their titles will be seized.
