Aki Basho, the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament of Japanese Professional Sumo, finished on Sunday, following 15 days of competition.

On day 15, 69th Grand Champion yokozuna Hakuho M.Davaajargal and 71st champion yokozuna Kakuryu M.Anand were featured in an interesting championship showdown.

Hakuho M.Davaajargal defeated Kakuryu M.Anand and surpassed the legendary Japanese sumo wrestler Chiyonofuji's record of  winning 31 tournament championships.

Yokozuna Kakuryu M.Anand finished the Aki Basho with 11 wins and four loses.

Mongolia's new rising star, Ichinojo, was defeated by Ikioi on Day 8, and by Hakuho on Day 15, and finished the Aki Basho with 13 wins.

N.Tsevegnyam achieved 50 percent success and became the second sumo wrestler to earn 8 wins at 40 years-old in the 70 year history of sumo.

Ozeki Kisenosato and Kotoshogiku finished the Aki Basho with 9 wins.

Exactly one century ago, the Japanese sumo wrestler Ryōgoku of Dewanoumi ring won the top division championship in his first attempt in 1914.
