Russian President Vladimir Putin landed at Chinggis Khaan International Airport at 2:25 p.m. today.
V.Putin is accompanied by a delegation including Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, Vice-Premier Yuri Trutnv, Minister of Energy Aleksandr Novak, Minister for the Development of the Far East Aleksandr Galushka, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Sergey Donskoy, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov, Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Mikhail Menj, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov, President of Russian Railways V. I. Yakunin, and representing Russian businesses, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev, Rosneft Chairman Igor Sechin, and CEO of United Company RUSAL Oleg Deripaska.
President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj welcomed his Russian counterpart, President V.Putin with the honorary guard at Chinggis Khaan Square.
Leaders of two countries paid their respects to the Great Khaan's Monument. The presidents will start official bilateral talks after a one-on-one meeting.
Over 20 bilateral agreements on trade and infrastructure will be signed by the two leaders.
This is the third state visit by Putin to Mongolia. In 2000, Putin paid a state visit to Mongolia during his term as Prime Minister, and 9 years later, also as Prime Minister.
Local and Russian media reports that the parties will solve visa-free travel issues, agreements on the development and modernization of Ulaanbaatar Railway JSC, and a swap agreement.
The Russian leader is also scheduled to lay wreath at the monument to Marshak Georgy Jukov and have dinner with Khalkh Gol Battle veterans on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the victory by Mongolian and Soviet soldiers in the Battles of Khalkh Gol.
