Vladimir Putin to visit Mongolia

A new week that brings the new school year comes with a significant visit for the  Mongolian people. Russian President Vladimir Putin will make an official visit to Mongolia on September 3rd.

Russian President Putin has scheduled a half day visit to Mongolia during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Battles of Khalkh Gol.

During the visit, the presidents of Mongolia and Russia will have bilateral talks and sign several agreements. President Putin will also attend a dinner with veterans of Khalkh Gol and lay wreath at the monument to the Russian hero of the Khalkh Gol battle, Marshal Georgy Zhukov, on the occasion of the anniversary.

This is the third time that President Putin has visited Mongolia. During his visit to Mongolia back in 2000, V.Putin discussed bilateral relations and directions for cooperation, and signed the Ulaanbaatar Declaration. In return, Mongolia's President paid an official visit to Moscow signed the Moscow Declaration, and announced that bilateral relations and cooperation had reached the level of strategic partnership in 2006.

The two countries are expected to transition bilateral relations and cooperation into a comprehensive strategic partnership, but no official statement has been made.

The parties have begun negotiations to solve transit shipment issues, review investment, intensifying foreign trade, and establishing visa-free travel between the two countries. The parties will also hold talks on strengthening the economic performance of Erdenet, Mongol Rostsvetmet and Ulaanbaatar Railway JSCs, improving their legal environment and expanding bilateral collaboration in agriculture by increasing meat exports.
