The Speaker of Mongolian Parliament, Z.Enkhbold, and the Federation Council`s Chairwoman of Russia, Mrs. Valentina Matviyenko, who is on an official visit to Mongolia, made a joint statement during a press conference on June 23^rd.

Speaker Z.Enkhbold stated that the visit to Mongolia by the Federation Council`s Chairwoman of Russia has been successful.

Speaker Z.Enkhbold noted that bilateral relations on politics, inter-parliamentary relations, trade, economy, culture, science, education and transit shipment were discussed at the meeting. Further measures to be taken to boost the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in the border areas of both countries was also discussed.

The Speaker emphasized that both parties will endeavor to celebrate the 75^th anniversary of the victory of the Khalkh Gol battle with wide reaching participation from both countries. Speaker Z.Enkhbold stated that the agreement is significant to deepen relations and cooperation between the legislatures of Mongolia and Russia and he added that establishing a group in the Federal Council of Russia to communicate with the Mongolian Parliament will contribute to raising the level of relations between the Parliaments of the two countries. The Speaker then said it is significant to keep such an active cooperation between the legislatures of the two countries and intensify the meetings and agreements for the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Federation Council`s Chairwoman Mrs. Valentina Matviyenko said in the joint statement that, first of all, she appreciated the warm welcome given by the hosts. She continued to say that they are satisfied with relations between Mongolia and Russia being at a high level and that Parliament`s role in bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries has become greater. The Chairwoman then said they intend to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations during their visit and that the visit aims to strengthen and deepen relations with Mongolia. Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko ended by saying that strengthening relations with Mongolia is the Federation’s and Russian President V.Putin`s will.
