A celebration for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Swiss Confederation was held in Bern in Switzerland on May 22nd. In his opening speech for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Switzerland, Ambassador B.Purevdorj stated that the Swiss Confederation was the first western country and non-socialist trade partner that established diplomatic relations with Mongolia. He evaluated the two countries` path in bilateral relations and cooperation as well as the current development and future perspectives of the nations.

Currently bilateral cooperation between Mongolia and Switzerland has expanded in agriculture, development in the countryside, micro-mining, vocational training, and strengthening of administration. 

The 10th anniversary of Swiss development cooperation in Mongolia falls this year at the same time as the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

At the celebration of the double jubilee, officials from the Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs, Parliament, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, as well as Swiss and Mongolian citizens were present.
