The President of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj is going to the IV Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Cooperation in Central Asia (CICA) which kicks off in Shanghai on May 20th and 21st. At the 4th CICA Summit, the President is expected to meet the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President V.Putin.

As expected, the IV CICA summit will be attended by representatives of 46 countries and international organizations including 11 heads of states and 2 heads of different governments, as well as 10 heads of international organizations.

The Presidents of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Sri Lanka and the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Iraq will arrive in Shanghai to participate in the summit. The idea of convening the CICA was first proposed by Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on 5th October 1992, at the 47th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Presently CICA has 24 Member States accounting for nearly ninety percent of the territory and population of Asia.

The CICA Secretariat, the administrative body of CICA is located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Mongolia has attended its very first conference since it joined to the CICA in June 2001.
