
The 32nd Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific began at the Tuushin Hotel in Ulaanbaatar today on March 10th.
The Minister of Industry and Agriculture Kh.Battulga delivered the opening speech for the 32nd Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific.
Over four days the session will focus on current development as well as the challenges the region faces for the agricultural industry, issues of sustainable development, and the progress towards reaching the targets for the Millennium Development Goal to reduce poverty by 50 percent. Further discussions will be held on the restoration of pasture and forests, the introduction of environmentally friendly practices in the agricultural industry, improvements to food security in the Asia Pacific region and in particular in landlocked developing countries.
Agriculture ministers from 46 countries in the region are attending the Conference as well as representatives from international non-governmental organizations, intergovernmental organizations, United Nations organizations, civil society organizations.
The 32nd Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific will continue until March 14th.
