Over a dozen herders have been affected in I and III bag in Ongon sum in Sukhbaatar aimag, with 86 cattle being diagnosed with foot-and-mouth disease. The herders are now struggling to implement the destruction of the animals according to the instruction for fighting infectious diseases in animals.
Prompt actions have been taken under the instructions and rules of the epidemic center since the infection was discovered but infectious diseases tend to spread more quickly in larger territory.
Therefore Naran and Dariganga sums in Sukhbaatar aimag have been on high alert since Monday and quarantines have been set. The National Emergency Management Agency has issues a warning to travelers and residents not to travel to Ongon, Naran and Dariganga sums in Sukhbaatar aimag and have banned the entry of any vehicles with the purpose to stop the spread of the disease.
The National Emergency Management Agency is also taking the following actions to halt the spread of any epidemic:
Canceling horse racing for Tsagaan sar and the Altan Ovoo worshipping event.
The local school holiday in Ongon, Naran and Dariganga sums in Sukhbaatar has been extended to prevent movement between areas.
Any public events and scheduled meetings in sums and aimag will be delayed for an uncertain period.
Complete the operation to define the source and spread of the disease in the first ten days of this month.
Intensify the process to vaccinate animals against sickness.
Ban any entry to the epidemic center of the disease for an uncertain period.
Conduct aerial surveys among prone animals, domestic animals and wild animals to foot-and-mouth disease in neighboring sums.
