The Standing Committee on social policy, education, culture
and science discussed several draft bills including a Pension Sharing law, the
Protection of Cultural Heritage law and issue surrounding the increase of
salaries and pensions during Wednesday`s meeting.

The Standing Committee voted for the Protection of Cultural
Heritage law to be discussed in the Parliamentary session meeting.

The Standing Committee on social policy, education, culture
and science discussed a Pension Sharing law. The Pension Sharing law allows a person
who is the legal spouse or common-law partner of a deceased contributor of social
insurance to be paid the pension after their spouses’ death, in the case that both
halves of the couple should have paid social insurance for at least 20 years
uninterruptedly and have been married for at least 10 years.

If the Pension Sharing law is passed, over 76,000 pensioners
may be eligible for benefits in Mongolia. When the law will become effective is
to be finalized during the discussion.
