
A loan agreement for “Higher education on engineering” reform project was negotiated and agreed upon during the Education Minister`s official visit to Japan, by the Government of Mongolia and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). At an individual meeting the Minister for Education and Science, L.Gantumur, announced that the agreement will be signed in the near future, adding that “I believe the loan given by the Japanese Government (3 billion yen) will contribute much to Mongolia`s human resource development. I hope you will accept Mongolia`s willingness to sent more and more Mongolian students to obtain qualifications in engineering and technology in Japan.”
At the meeting the Ministry of Education and Science was granted the authority to implement the “Higher education on engineering and technology” reform project for medium term strategic partnership program between the Governments of Mongolia and Japan.
The first actions have been taken to move forward on Mongolian academics through the decision to establish a Mongolian studies fund when launching the activities. Parties emphasized that the Mongolian studies fund will collaborate further with the University of Tokyo and prestigious universities for Mongolian studies.
