At the request of the President of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj, the Governor General of Canada David Johnston is to visit Mongolia on 25th and 26th October. The Governor General`s state visit to Mongolia comes at an opportune time as this year marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Canada, established in 1973.

This is the first official visit by the Canadian Governor General to Mongolia. The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj paid an official visit to Canada in 2004 for the first time.

Official talks between Mongolia and Canada will be held during the official visit by the Governor General. Meetings with the President and with other government officials will be held where the Governor General will discuss issues to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation, support investment, promote commercial collaboration and exchange views on regional cooperation.

Governor General Johnston will also deliver an address before the State Great Khural (Parliament) in honor of the 40th anniversary of Canadian-Mongolian diplomatic relations.
