A new study has revealed that currently the population of Ulaanbaatar City has reached 1,226,991.

This population figure is 15 percent higher compared to the official figure of four years ago.

By gender, the female population has reached 580,981 and the male population is 646,010 of the total population of Ulaanbaatar City. By age classification, the population of children up to the age of 15 has reached 320,354 and the population aged between 15-44 is 651,613. However the numbers of the population between the ages of 45-59 is only 178,753 and the population of ages 60-100 is 76,232. The population of those aged above 100 years is 27.

According to the study 5,699 couple married while 821 couples were divorced last year. The study also reports that 33,324 babies were born last year.

The report released by the Press and Public Relations Office of the Capital City showed that there are 23,826 female headed households out of the 317,131 households dwelling in Ulaanbaatar City.
