Over 30 children fell from the back of their race horse and were seriously injured during the horse racing tournament for the National celebration Naadam this year.

Tragically, one of the children from these 31 jockeys who fell from horseback died from a serious injury while five other children are undergoing treatment in the National Trauma & Orthopedic Research Center in Ulaanbaatar City.

An official from the Mongolian Child Protective Service and Identification Center, G.Oinvbayar, made a statement saying: “The jockey child who fell from horseback during a festival event in Jargalan sum in Tuv aimag died in an emergency vehicle on the way to hospital.

The disorganization of the event is being blamed for the incident. Officials from the Center for Children in Tuv aimag  are now investigating the case in order to discern who is responsible from the organizers and horse trainers.”

It is reported that the child was not wearing the required helmet and protective suit for the derby during the horse racing.
