
The renewed regulation entitles the following to use sirens: ambulances or vehicles used as ambulances by recognized hospitals, clinics or veterinaries on duty, Traffic Police and National Emergency Management Agency vehicles on urgent calls, accident and natural disaster, Government vehicles used for official purposes by the three Heads of State, vehicles of law enforcement officers who are on duty to arrest criminals.
In the Capital City, the General Police Department will distribute the entitlement to use sirens whereas the Police Department in each aimag will distribute the right to use the siren according to the new regulation.
The vehicles equipped with sirens and flashing lights will be marked by its color and icon making it easy to identify which department the vehicle belongs to.
Blue-red flashing lights and siren are for vehicles of the Mongolian Armed Forces, blue for the State Special Security Service and red for all the National Emergency Management Agency and forensic medicine and autopsy inspection teams.
All vehicles for environment protection, urban accomplishment, trailer or carrier, vehicle for the technical control service and road maintenance service will be identified with green flashing lights.
The renewed regulation on use of sirens will come into effect from July.
The Traffic Police issued 211 sirens and flashing lights to 159 authorities in 2012.
However 44 percent were sent to unauthorized persons.
