The new Ambassador of India, Satbir Singh, paid a courtesy call on
Parliament Speaker D.Demberel earlier
this week and their discussions noted the
“important role” parliamentary
ties between have played in developing bilateral relationship.
The
Speaker’s hope that Ambassador Singh “will be making all efforts to
strengthen them” was reciprocated. Singh also said Mrs Meira Kumar, Speaker of the lower house of India’s
bicameral parliament, is scheduled to visit Mongolia later this month and
arrangements are on for a visit to India by Demberel before the year ends.
The Mongolian leader noted the interest expressed by private Indian companies
in investing in the mineral sector here, and also referred to ongoing
inter-government negotiations on cooperating in the uranium and nuclear energy
sectors. He thanked India for its extensive help in providing training to
Mongolian youth, students and public officials in several sectors, including
IT.
