The feasibility study approved in March 2010 outlines that the world-class deposit covers indirect resource of 3 billion, 380 million tons of ore, 31.1 million tons of copper, 1,328 tons of gold, 7,601 tons of silver and 81,600 tons of molybdenum. In addition to this, indicated resources are estimated at 3 billion, 775 million tons of ore, 19,664 million tons of copper, 810 tons of gold, 5,905 tons of silver and 75,500 tons of molybdenum.
The amounts of resources are several times more than those at the Erdenet Copper Corporation mineral resource.
Erdenet Copper Corporation covers indirect resource of one billion, 544 million tons of ore, 8,058 million tons of copper and 2,223,874 tons of molybdenum. After 30 years of commercial production the inferred resource was estimated at one billion 87 million tons of ore, 4,790 million tons of copper and 131,034 tons of molybdenum according to reports in January 2009.
There are no official reports about the amount of resources that were used over the past four years.
Respectively the Oyu Tolgoi deposit has three to four times more ore resource and seven times more copper resource compared to the Erdenet Copper Corporation resource.
Compared to Erdenet Copper, Oyu Tolgoi also contains large amounts of gold, silver and other rare resources.
