President of Mongolia, Elbegdorj Tsakhia received the Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Mogens Lykketoft, on Monday March 4th.

During the meeting, President Elbegdorj Tsakhia expressed his respect and special thanks to the Danish Government for their support of the Mongolian democratic changes from the start, launching numerous projects and programs via the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA).

The President stated “We will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomat relations between our two countries this year. I am pleased to see you in this anniversary year. Mongolia is interested in strengthening cooperation on culture, education and science with Denmark. For Denmark there is great opportunity to invest and cooperate in mining, the power industry and the environmental sector in Mongolia. We want to develop heat systems and present Danish Green Technology in Mongolia.
We also want to learn from experiences in the Danish social welfare system and audit organization of our two countries to develop cooperation. There are great opportunities in Mongolia to use solar and wind power.

Further we intend to establish an Asian super network of energy.”

The Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Mogens Lykketoft, responded that “I am happy to visit in Mongolia and see the President”

Mr Mogens Lykketoft stated that “Our two countries are heading towards progress together. I want to express my special thanks to you for providing me with an introduction and information about your country”.

The Speaker of the Danish Parliament congratulated Mongolian efforts to reach democracy. The Speaker said that “Denmark is potentially able to cooperate on the energy industry, the central heating system plan of Ulaanbaatar city and mining and agriculture with Mongolia”
