Tьvshinbayar won a silver medal in the 2012 London summer Olympics but suffered a serious left knee injury in the final bout, according to a Daemen news release. He received successful surgery on the knee by Buffalo surgeon Dr. John Marzo and then received treatment from Daemen”s physical therapists.
Tьvshinbayar”s first visit to Western New York came after the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he became the first Mongolian ever to win a gold medal. At that time, he received medical evaluation and treatment from Marzo and the Daemen team for an injury to his right knee.
Tьvshinbayar”s wikipedia page, found here, says his athletic pursuits have earned him election as a state-honored athlete and “hero of labor” in Mongolia. His visits to the Buffalo region come from a friendship between Carmen Cabell, Consul of Mongolia in New Jersey, and Roger Trevino, of Niagara Falls Redevelopment, and Seymour Knox IV. The Daemen news release says Tьvshinbayar credits Dr. Marzo with extending his Olympic career and second medal.
