In Sainshand in Dornogovi aimag 12 calves belonging to a herder died mysteriously last December. The residents` community on environment claim that the incidents might be related to levels of uranium.

The Nuclear Energy Agency disqualified the announcement as baseless.

A radiation measurement taken at the herders farmstead showed the level to be two times lower than the acceptable limit.  The results of soil and water samples have not yet been released. The Nuclear Energy Agency will announce the details next week.
