
MP O.Baasankhuu`s request, the reply on the
implementation work of the national program for the protection and restoration
of historical and cultural properties and the measures taken to protect these
cultural heritages.
There are 4,450 registered historical properties in
Mongolia. The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Travel plans to run a census on
historical properties to include them all in the registry. Therefore necessary
restoration works will also be conducted next year.
During the plenary session MPs asked how the supervision was
being conducted on Mongolian heritage showpieces that have been delivered abroad.
It is believed that there have been unique historical items delivered abroad under
the name of promotion. However, it is always unclear whether they come back to
Mongolia.
The Minister of Culture, Sport and Travel said the
exhibition of Chinggis Khan that was shown in USA is now closed and exhibits
have been shipped. Only one Mongolian exhibition is now being shown in Atlanta.
A Mongolian paleontological exhibition in Japan will be closed next June. The
exhibits will be shipped back to Mongolia as soon as the exhibition finishes.
At the end of the enquiries MP O.Baasankhuu said that the Ministry
of Culture, Sport and Travel should focus on protecting falcons. He stated that
if not protected the endangered falcon`s destiny will be extinction because of the
5,000 US dollar price on the bird.
