B.Batsaikhan, the father of the 12 year old victim who was killed when concrete mixer fell on her in the Bayangol District met with President Ts.Elbegdorj on 24th October. B.Batsaikhan previously sent a letter to the President asking him to make efforts to change laws in order to make sure people are living in a safe and healthy society.  The President invited B.Batsaikhan to meet with him and Ts.Bayarsaikhan, the Minister of Construction and Urban Development, Kh.Temuujin, the Minister for Justice, L.Erdenechimeg, MP, and E.Bat-Uul, the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor.

Last September 99 incidents taking place on construction sites were registered and 39 people in the construction sector died because of the lack of labor and safety measures. In contrast, there were 73 incidents and 18 casualties in 2008.

The President said that fining a staff who acted irresponsibly is not enough and that anyone who is found guilty for an incident must be punished according to the law.  The President also said that September 3rd should be a memorial day for the victim B.Esugen.  He hopes that the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development and other state services will make many efforts to provide Mongolians with healthy and safe living conditions.
