Altogether 13 officials were questioned at the open
hearing yesterday on the declaration of their income and assets, organized by
the Standing Committee on Justice with help from the Anti-corruption Agency. They included the Governor of Bayangol
district, Mrs. L.Amgalan, the Governor of Dornod aimag, Ts.Janlav, the head of
MIAT. R.Bat-Erdene, the head of National Security Council office, B.Khurts, the
head of the City Customs, Mrs. S.Tsetsgee, and the head of the City Inspection
Office, D.Tumurbaatar .
All of them explained that they had not withheld
information deliberately but had made mistakes as they did not clearly
understand what they had to do. They criticized the Agency for not giving
clearer guidelines.
The open hearing was the brainchild of MPs Kh.Temuujin,
J.Sukhbaatar and J.Enkhbayar.
According to J.Batsaikhan, head of the Monitoring and
Evaluation Department at the Agency, the declaration of 42 officials in 2009
was found unacceptable. A total of 53,016 officials submitted the declaration
and 255 of these were checked more thoroughly.
