Esteemed athletes and trainers – masters of the great
sports, and owners of timeless achivements, which are the source of pride for
the Mongolian people!
Our athletes – finest ornament of free Mongolia, are ready to head for the
London 2012 Summer Olympics to put their speed and strength, skill and
craftiness into test, carrying the shared dream, aspiration and spirit of their
people.
Starting from 1964, for 44 years, Mongolia’s team of finest athletes and
trainers have successfully participated in the Olympic Games – Symbol of Peace,
Faith, and Brotherhood for humanity, bringing the first of Olympic Gold medals
from Beijing Olympics in 2008. It is only a start. I am confident that the
achievements and pride garnered until today would expand to include more famed
Olympic champions and medalists, further intensifying Mongolia’s athletic
progress.
Since the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, our athletes have competed in world
and international class competitions with tremendous success. They have brought
home 112 medals from major international competitions in 2009 alone, 116 medals
in 2010, 225 medals in 2011, and 114 medals this year respectively, totalling
to 567 medals, and successfully qualifing for London Olympic games.
It is a great follow-up by our athletes after the outstanding performance in
Beijing in 2008. It is also a tangible outcome, which is measured by the
hardwork, sweat and tear by our athletes and trainers, and accelerated by
innovative management, effective support mechanism, mutual understanding, and
collective effort. Today, momentum has once again come for us to reinforce
those achievements at the Games of ХХХ Olympiads and ХIV Paralympic Games in
London.
Today, we have thirty-five of our athletes heading to London, to raise-high
Mongolia’s flag under the skies of Great Britain. Twenty-nine of our athletes would
compete in seven events of the Olympic games: shooting, sprinting, boxing,
judo, freestyle wrestling, archery and aquatics, and six more athletes are to
compete in judo, shooting, archery, and sprinting events of the Paralympic
games.
Thirty-five days are left until the start of Olympic Games. I would like to
call for members and trainers of the national team to treat this critical
period with utmost discipline and organization, putting forth strict and
intensive training.
Athletes and trainers, who are to participate in the XXX Summer Olympiads and
ХIV Paralympic Games!
Today is a special day. It is Mongolian Athletes Day, as well as International
Olympic Day.
Mongolia is a State with history and traditions enduring millenias. Mongolia is
a State of freedom, with people of noble existence. People of Mongolia know the
worth of success, honor, and pride, thus regard them with deep respect.
Mongolia is a country with Olympic champions and Olympic legends. And Mongolia
shall bear many future Olympic champions, who would carry on to be the pride
and joy of her people.
On this fair day, on behalf of the people and state of Mongolia, I hand you the
State flag, which would be raised under the eternal blue sky of the Olympic
games. Let us hear the National Anthem of Mongolia played, and see the State
flag raised numerous times under the Olympic skies.
May the fortune and good-spirit of our people befall upon you all through your
journey.
