Some MPs submitted a draft law on social protection of disabled children to Deputy Speaker G.Batkhuu on Friday.

MPs stated that the law on social welfare of disabled citizens has instructed to serve disabled citizens in age of 16 and disabled children have not taken welfare service. About 130,000 disabled citizens have been registered in the country and from 34,000 to 37,000 of them are disabled children, according to research data. Most disabled children could not take kindergarten and school education because special six schools for disabled children locate in the capital. No special school is in local settlements. The draft law initiators view that the draft would decide many problems of disabled children.

S.Oyun, one of the draft law initiators, stated that disabled children should be registered by the state after their birth. In this case they could take welfare services, socialize. She noted that the state should pay attention to involve disabled children to schools.

Public has previously demanded to prepare such law and Parents Union of Disabled Children has complained about allowance for disabled children because one of parents who have disabled children could not work.
