MPs R.Gonchigdorj and E.Bat-Uul submitted resignation application of Defense Minister J.Enkhbayar to Deputy Speaker G.Batkhuu on Friday.

G.Batkhuu stated that the application would be researched and discussed by working frame. The DP caucus has viewed that newly appointed Defense Minister J.Enkhbayar is violating laws along his statement to press. Also the minister has not come to DP caucus, which wants to hear his explanation of saying to press. That is why MPs of the DP caucus have decided to submit resignation application.

The application has written that Defense Minister J.Enkhbayar has suggested establishing a “special unit” to handle public demonstrations and he has said press that army should be ready for special situations such as disorders of July 1, 2008. The DP caucus has viewed that the minister’s suggestion seriously violates the Constitution.

It has also written that the minister’s suggestion has abused his official duty authority because army readiness could not be established by the defense minister’s decision. Besides, J.Enkhbayar’s suggestion has not met other documents including the state military policy and reform of military sector from 1996.

R.Gonchigdorj asked the Standing Committees would discuss the issue within a week.
