Speaker D.Demberel received South Korean ambassador to Mongolia Jong Il, who is ending his official duties in Mongolia.

D.Demberel thanked Jong Il for his great efforts to widen bilateral ties in the fields of politics, trade, economics, culture, and education. He also noted that the official visit of South Korean President Lee Myung-bak to Mongolia last year was a new step in bilateral relations. The Speaker emphasized that trade between the two nations doubled, and aid from South Korea to Mongolia increased, during the ambassador’s tenure. He wished him success in his future work.

Ambassador Jong Il said he was fortunate to serve in Mongolia while the country’s economy and mining sector were developing rapidly. He also expressed his hope that after the parliamentary elections are held in Mongolia and in South Korea, the new parliaments and new governments of the two nations will widen mutual ties. Jong Il praised the efforts of MP E.Munkh-Ochir, who is the head of Parliament’s Mongolia-South Korea inter-parliamentary group. He added that he will support Mongolians in South Korea whenever possible.
