The State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet will perform the ballet Spartacus by Aram Khachaturian on February 18 and 19. The performances are sponsored by the Tuguldur Fund.

The State Academic Theater’s first performance of Spartacus was produced by Labor Hero B.Jamyandagva in 1984, with Honored Artists Yu.Oyun, O.Ganbaatar, O.Batsaikhan, and Kh.Gerelchimeg dancing the lead roles.

B.Jamyandagva is working as a consultant on this latest production, and People’s Artist Ch.Gungaasukh is working as a set designer. They are hoping to revive Mongolia’s interest in the ballet after many years.

Dancers G.Tsolmon, B.Saruul, Ch.Ganchimeg, T.Batchimeg, O.Gantsooj, and M.Od will perform in the ballet. Spartacus is the fifth production sponsored by the Tuguldur Fund, which has previously worked with the theatre to produce the ballets Sleeping Beauty and Nutcracker, and an international ballet festival.
